Laurie began her career as a lawyer, called to the Bar in BC in 1984. But her interest in journalism soon took over. In 1989 she enrolled in the Carleton University School of Journalism Masters program. She landed her first job in journalism with CTV in Toronto in 1990. In 1992 she was appointed to produce the CTV investigative segment “Goldhawk Fights Back” airing on CTV national news. The segment produced 40 – 50 investigative and consumer stories a year. During this time Laurie honed her investigative skills with a particular emphasis on hidden camera work. In November 2001 she was asked to join the producer team at CTV’s W5. She primarily produced long format investigative and consumer fraud stories.
In 2010 Laurie made the move to Global Television taking the position of Senior Producer at the news and current affairs show, 16x9. In 2011 she was appointed Executive Producer for 16x9.
